Group
Groupwork provides fertile ground for developing critical academic and social skills, especially in regards to communication and collaboration.
In groups, students co-create understanding, hear, explain, and respectfully critique different justifications, and generally form rich and deep connections. Most students who intend to use sessions for regular and long-term academic support find that group sessions are ideal.
Students are encouraged to register as a group, but you may also request to be put in contact with others who are interested in groupwork but don't yet have a group formed.
Session cost varies based on group size:
2 students: $70/hr each, 3 students: $50/hr each, 4 or 5 students: $40/hr each
If you see the benefits to both individual and group sessions, check out the Combo Option description below.
Individual
In general, group sessions are most effective for all learners.
However, one-on-one tutoring is typically the best option for students with very specific goals or areas of focus due to unusual circumstances or individual needs. This may be a good option if, for instance, you missed a month of school, have critical gaps in foundational knowledge, want improvements on only the ACT Science section, etc.
Sessions are $120/hr.
If you see the benefits to both individual and group sessions, check out the Combo Option description below.
Combo
Some students find that a combination of group sessions and individual sessions suits them best. In that case, students who are registered with a group may schedule individual sessions at a reduced rate.
Per group session, individual sessions are $90/hr

As a teacher who spent many hours with students before and after school, I understand that sometimes epiphanies occur and questions arise outside of our scheduled time together. I also don't want to penalize students for taking a little longer to grasp a concept by way of hourly charge. After all, 'good at math' does not mean 'quick at math'!
As a solution, I'm happy to look over a solution, verify an understanding, or answer a question via email, text, or video chat.
During sessions, students can expect lessons that address specific needs. We'll discuss some of those needs during the consultation, but I'm just as attentive to needs that emerge during a session or develop over time.
After each session, students will have access to all the notes and work generated during our session for their reference. We will use jamboard while learning is virtual, which acts a virtual whiteboard for all participants to see and write on.
Beyond that, I'm always happy to provide guidance, share experiences, and address questions that aren't about math, but relate to education, schooling, life choices, etc.
I care deeply for all of my students as people too!

I love tutoring. I do not love perpetuating systems of inequity.

I understand first-hand the value of education and the doors opened by great grades and high scores. I also understand that the ability to sit with tough questions and identify truths about yourself and the world allow you to choose wisely among all the open doors before you. Part of my work is supporting the students who need it most. I firmly believe that our liberation as a society is bound together - I had help getting to where I am now and it's my responsibility to pay it forward as much as I can.

A portion of my tutoring rates fund students without financial access to necessary educational services. For every 2-3 full tuition students, I work with 1 on scholarship.
